What is VIDYPS and how does it work?
VIDYPS turns your Mac or PC into a broadcast quality video server enabling you to stream a playlist, capture video from your screen or use a camera and microphone to stream video.
Each option allows direct to disk recording and using a branded logo to overlay the video stream.
You can stream video content independently, without the involvement of intermediaries or the need to use 3rd-party apps and services.
Do I need to preset firewall or router settings before I start broadcasting?
Firewall Settings: All presets related to the firewall are made automatically by our software.
Router Settings: If your computer, which broadcasts live, is connected directly to the Internet, no presets related to a router are required.
On the other hand, if your computer is connected to the Internet via a router (a WiFi connection is an example), you will need to forward ports in order to stream your program live.
Please check the following steps:
- Step 1: Depending on whether you are using a computer running Windows or Mac OS, do the following:
- Windows OS: Open "Command Prompt", then type "CMD" into the box and click "OK". In the Command Prompt window opening up, type "ipconfig" and press "Enter". The "Default Gateway IP address" will appear right next to "Default Gateway" (see image below). You will use this IP address to access your router online. The "IPv4 Address" is the (internal) IP address of your PC that is used for live streaming/broadcasting.
- Mac OS: Open "System Preferences", then click "Network" (you may also have to click "Advanced" >> "TCP/IP"). The "Default Gateway IP address" will appear right next to "Router" (see image below). You will use this IP address to access your router online. The "IPv4 Address" is the (internal) IP address of your Mac that is used for live streaming/broadcasting.
- Step 2: Login to your router by opening the web browser and entering the Default Gateway IP address into the address bar located at the top.
You'll be prompted to enter the router's credentials. See the image below for a list of some popular router manufacturers and the corresponding usernames and passwords.
If your router is not listed, find the credentials in its user guide or search the Internet for information.
- Step 3: Locate the "Port Forwarding" section (or just "Forwarding") and then open "Virtual Servers". Click to add a virtual server entry by inputting 53834 into the "Service Port" and "Internal Port" field.
This port is used for streaming via RTMP and RTMPS.
The procedure should be repeated for the port number 8443, which is used for streaming via HTTPS.
Enter the "IPv4 Address" of your Mac or PC into the "IP Address" field to and click "Save" to save the changes (see image below).

Can the program be broadcast live from the smartphone or tablet, or is it only possible from the computer?
Only from the computer. VIDYPS is designed to help those who want to broadcast video content in a professional way, with the best possible picture and sound quality. This cannot be achieved with a phone or tablet.
Can the live stream be viewed on all devices?
Yes. VIDYPS allows the program you broadcast to reach every user, to work in all operating systems and on all desktop and mobile devices.
We offer three types of players to watch live programs, depending on the device used:
1. RTMP Live Stream Player for Windows >>
DOWNLOAD HERE
2. RTMP Live Stream Player for Mac OS >>
DOWNLOAD HERE
3. Live Stream FLV Player as a web app for all desktop and mobile devices >>
OPEN THE PLAYER
Additionally, video content streamed using VIDYPS can also be played on various cross-platform multimedia players such as
VLC player.
What conditions must be met in order for the program to live-stream via FLV player?
There are four conditions that must be met:
- You must have your own domain (eg. blue2digital.com)
- You must provide an SSL (Trusted CA) certificate for your domain (eg. https://blue2digital.com); this a certificate issued by a particular Certificate Authority (CA) (such as Let's Encrypt, for instance)
- The port 8443 must be open (VIDYPS provides this automatically)
- Windows OS: You must locate the certificate and private key and copy them to C:/rtmp/certificate.pem and C:/rtmp/privatekey.pem, respectively; as an example, we took the locations of the certificate and the private key for our site blue2digital.com and copied them both to C:/rtmp (see images below)
- Mac OS: You must locate the certificate and private key and copy them to ~/Desktop/rtmp/certificate.pem and ~/Desktop/rtmp/privatekey.pem, respectively
The secure video URL will look like
https://yoursite.com:8443/live/PLXyz.flv and will be provided by VIDYPS if you choose to enable your HTTP(S) live stream to be embedded within a FLV player.
